No uke chart for the song you want to play, or one you don't trust? Capo listens to the recording and draws every chord it hears as a uke chord box, in your tuning. Songs recorded on guitar often land in keys that are awkward on uke. If you tell Capo which fret your capo is on, it'll do the math and redraw every chord box to match. No capo? Move the song to an easier key instead. Then slow it down, loop the tricky part, and finish it by ear.

A song recorded in E or B asks for shapes most uke players would rather avoid. If you play with a capo, tell Capo which fret it's on and every chord box is redrawn for where it sits, so you can play along with the recording just as it is. Rather not use one? Transpose the song to a friendlier key, and every chord and diagram moves with it.

Capo's detection gets you most of the way, and your ear does the rest. Slow the song to as little as a quarter speed without changing its pitch, and you can hear the strumming pattern and exactly where each chord change lands. Loop the bar you're unsure of until you've got it. If a chord's wrong, change it. If you play a different shape, swap in another ukulele voicing and apply it to every matching chord in the song.

Great for Ukulele practice
This is fantastic! By simply switching the TAB display to ukulele I can learn a new song easily. I download the somgs I want to learn right out of my iTunes library and play along with the original artist. No need to buy a book of songs. I mean, books are ok but this way I can learn right along and take in all aspects of the tune; how it should sound, the right chords, finger picking, etc. I can slow down and rehearse a section that gives me trouble until I get it right. It is a no-brainer! Use this app!!

I've been using Capo for years on Macs and iPads, and I truly love it! It's a great help for me to figure out how to play a song by giving me a starting point for working out the chords. It's one of the few apps that I pay for the subscription, because I find the added features invaluable. I use it for guitar and ukulele transcriptions of songs. This is a keeper!

Which ukulele tunings does Capo support?

Can Capo find the ukulele chords in an audio file?
Yes. Open an MP3, M4A or any other audio file you own, and Capo detects the chords all the way through. Chords are chords: Capo names them from the recording, and only the diagrams depend on what you play. So it's a ukulele chord finder for anything in your library.
The song was recorded on guitar. Can I play it on uke?
Songs recorded on guitar often sit in keys like E or B that are awkward on uke. Say a song is in E: its E and B chords are both a stretch. Put a capo on the 4th fret, though, and they turn into the easy C and G shapes. Tell Capo your capo is on the 4th fret and it redraws every chord box that way, so you can play along with the recording as it is. No capo? Transpose the song to C instead, and every chord follows.
How accurate is it, and can I fix a chord?
Capo gets you most of the way, and every chord is editable. Change a chord that's wrong, or swap in the voicing you play and apply it to every matching chord in the song.
Can I use songs from Spotify or Apple Music?
No. Streaming tracks are protected by DRM, which stops apps like Capo from playing them. Capo works on audio files you own—MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A, FLAC, and DRM-free purchases from iTunes, Bandcamp, or Qobuz—plus anything you've ripped from your CD collection.
Do I have to pay to see the ukulele chords?
No. The Free Edition detects the chords in any song and shows them as ukulele chord boxes, with no time limit. Every tuning, the capo and the rest of the instrument settings are included. What it doesn't do is save your edits to chords and beats, export anything, or make a lead sheet on the Mac.
