With a doubt, Capo was developed with the guitarist in mind. However, we're finding that because of its high-quality slowing engine, Capo is also attracting vocalists! 

With Capo, the slowing engine lets you modify the song speed without losing the essence. Regardless of speed, the quality of the song is still present. As a vocalist, this is key and is why Capo is now used by many vocalists as a learning tool.

As you can imagine, music contains a lot of factors that can confuse our Chord Intelligence engine. There could be pitched snare hits, the vocalist could be singing passing tones, or the keyboard player is harmonizing the guitar player—at any moment, there could be conflicting frequencies that must be resolved. Given all this complex musical information, it is amazing how many chords are detected at all!

Mike Sessler has been involved with church sound and live production for more than 25 years, and is the author of the Church Tech Arts blog. Based in Nashville, he serves as project lead for CCI Solutions, which provides design-build production solutions for churches and other facilities.

In the past, I would have started running pink noise through the system and looking at the response on an RTA. But that amount of noise (I measured at 94 dB SPL-A) gets annoying really fast.

I've been learning more about more modern forms of measurement including swept tone and FFT, so that's how I went about this process. I've found swept tone gets me a lot closer a lot faster than pink noise, without the grating noise.
