2.0b5 is late

• Chris Liscio

I set up an ad-hoc schedule of releases a while ago, and assigned some features to each release. FuzzMeasure 2.0b5 was supposed to go out today, but I'm stumbling on the last of the large features I wanted to put into the release.

So, I will be much later than I originally planned. However, I'm sure that you would rather get a late release with more features than an early release with less features, right? :)

So, what is this final stumbling block for FuzzMeasure 2.0b5, anyway? Well, it's the last of my "dream features" for 2.0 — the Waterfall Plot PlugIn. This PlugIn required some analysis work to enable the calculation of the spectral decay over time, and some OpenGL work to facilitate the 3D drawing.

This will be the first heavyweight PlugIn that I develop for FuzzMeasure, and the process is going well so far. I quite like the idea of providing an entirely separate control surface that allows you to concentrate on the visualization of the data, and easily setting the bounds of the analysis that you wish to view.

This concept works especially well for the waterfall display since it's a very exploratory environment. You can spend a lot of time poking around the graph, trying to find ridges at various frequencies that other packages might not let you see so easily.

Anyway, I'm very excited to get it all completed and show it off. It's a lot of fun to get working, and I know that a lot of you really want access to this feature within FuzzMeasure. (Yes — even more than restoring electrical measurements).
