Random Work

• Chris Liscio

At this point, I'm working in a bit of a random state. Code is being written, the documentation is being updated, and general stuff is just happening.

I am re-doing my documentation as a PDF file, mainly so that it is printer-friendly for the dead tree collectors like myself. Most of the time, I simply prefer printing out a product's manual if it's not too long, and thumbing through it while working on the app. You can take it with you to read in bed before you nod off, or throw it under your arm for a trip to the can.

I spend a lot of time on everything I write. Even though it doesn't always come out perfectly, I really do try very hard to come across as coherent. Also, I am very concerned about how my documents look. I really do hate reading manuals that look like they were thrown together in 5 minutes using TextEdit or Word. I really don't even want to waste the ink or paper to print them, and I certainly don't enjoy reading them. As a result, I want to produce a manual that is worth printing. I hope to achieve that with the FuzzMeasure user manual.

Along with the documentation, I have been working towards getting my graph display code totally cleaned up and working smoothly. It really is great to quickly load up a FuzzMeasure document to test out my graph code. Having a baseline to compare against helps me realize if a code change resulted in better or worse drawing.

I still don't feel that the 1.2b1 version will be released soon, since I want to ensure that it's as close to done as possible before I release it into the wild. Optimally, I'd like it to be more of a release candidate than a beta, so that the testing can be spent responding to and fixing any issues (if they pop up) rather than concentrating on adding more features. Working on new features only cuts down the amount of time I have to effectively respond to user reports.
