Inching Forward

I'm amazed at how much code I wrote during the last few weeks. I'm really starting to get into the groove of throwing down Objective-C and creating collections of classes that work well together, and allow for a lot of extensibility. Unfortunately, the code that I have written will not be integrated into FuzzMeasure 1.1 just yet.

In order to add audio device selection, I integrated MTCoreAudio.framework into my code base. Since my Transit USB failed miserably during this process, I had to step aside from releasing 1.1 until I got my hands on another USB audio device to test with. The main trunk of my development has only inched forward compared to the 1.2 branch I'm motoring along with.

M-Audio support has decided to help me out with my "rare problem" by replacing my device with a MobilePre. They tell me that a MobilePre may be used without installing any M-Audio software, which sounds great to me! I should be receiving my replacement device soon, and I may be able to squeeze out a 1.1 release before Christmas. Hopefully, I can pull together another user story over the holidays using 1.1, as well.

Fortunately, the extra code I've written puts me that much closer to a 1.2 release. I'm imagining a late-January or mid-February release for 1.2, but I'm not certain that it will be completed by then. I have some huge plans in my head for that timeframe, and I could be setting myself up for disappointment if I commit to a date (which I'd never do anyway, seeing how I only do this in my spare time right now). Given the break over the holidays, I'll be able to launch forward some more, and get my SMUG core framework complete.

Since 1.0, I've put in another solid 63.5 hours of work on FuzzMeasure. At this point, the amount of time required to make additions is much less. This is partially due to my increasing experience, and partially due to the fact that most of FuzzMeasure is already done.
