FuzzMeasure 4.2

Much of the work on this update went toward migrating FuzzMeasure to build using the latest Swift compiler and developer tools from Apple.

Bug Fixes

  • FuzzMeasure no longer crashes when switching audio devices on macOS 10.13
  • When launching, FuzzMeasure should no longer crash on macOS 10.13 with certain audio hardware configurations
  • Various issues related to numeric entry in the sweep settings have been resolved
  • Changing the selection of graphs while the 3D Waterfall graph was visible will no longer crash on macOS 10.13.

While we strive to test our updates thoroughly, there are many hardware and software configurations "in the wild" that may cause issues we have yet to discover. Please get in touch with support if you encounter any bugs or inconsistent behavior in this update.

New Features

  • You can now alter FuzzMeasure's waterfall graphs to adjust their 3D perspective. Select a waterfall graph, mouse over one of the dots on the Z axis, and drag the adjustment handle to directly manipulate the graph display.
  • Graphs are now stored with an aspect ratio value, which may also be adjusted. As you resize FuzzMeasure's window, the graphs' aspect ratios are maintained so that they shrink and grow in response to the window's size. To adjust a graph's aspect ratio, drag the dashed divider line below the graph to change its height.

Enhancements

  • FuzzMeasure 4.1 is compiled using Swift 2 and the OS X 10.11 SDK (still using a 10.10 deployment target.) This resulted in various performance improvements, and better error handling in some functional areas.
  • Selecting two measurements now displays the delay and distance differences in the inspector, as it did in FuzzMeasure 3.x.
  • Serial numbers for microphone calibration records are now shown in the calibration inspector.
  • Time-domain graphs reported in decibels (ETC, Log-squared Impulse) may now also use the record's SPL calibration value.
  • Sweep settings are now saved as defaults when changed, so all new documents automatically use the last-set setting.
  • The field recording UI has been reworked again to better balance sandbox security and ease of use.

Bug Fixes

  • Automatic correction should no longer get "stuck", preventing it from being enabled/disabled.
  • Corrected an exception that got fired during drag & drop that caused the UI to be sent into a strange state.
  • When multiple records are selected, the entered Start/Duration values for the analysis window may now be edited.
  • Entering bad values into the sweep settings UI no longer locks up FuzzMeasure's UI.
  • The export impulse UI no longer shows the 88.2kHz label incorrectly while saving 96kHz files.
  • Smoothed harmonic distortion graphs (not percentage) no longer use an incorrect X axis scale.

Bug Fixes

  • Corrected a layout issue in the sidebar when running El Capitan
  • FuzzMeasure no longer allows you to attempt exporting a waterfall graph CSV (which was never possible, and led to a crash.)
  • Fixed several small issues with printing graphs, such as the Reverberation Time plot displaying T20 values labeled as T30 in the printout
  • Removed a crash that occurred when switching audio devices
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when a device is stopped during a measurement
  • FuzzMeasure no longer crashes when deleting the sole microphone calibration record

Enhancements

  • Holding the option key when pressing the '+' button will measure immediately, similar to using the Measurement > Measure command in the main menu
  • You can option-click the 'C' button to clear a stored SPL calibration value in the level meter, and return to the dBFS display

  • Printed graphs no longer "creep downward" with subsequent pages
  • Waterfall graphs now properly retain their start/duration values when printed and exported as images

  • When the extents are locked in the waterfall graph, setting a new start or duration value now unlocks extents to avoid overdrawing the Z axis

  • Corrected a crash that affected the envelope time curve graph when importing impulse responses
  • Fixed an exception that triggered when entering bad values for the sweep amplitude
  • You can no longer specify values greater than 0dB for the sweep amplitude
  • Corrected a crash that occurred when markers ended up in "impossible" places
  • Added extra value validation to the graph extents to prevent locking the UI if a value <= 0 was specified for a log X axis
  • Corrected a crash that could occur when displaying the audio settings popover
  • FuzzMeasure now correctly "collapses" negative values specified for durations (i.e. -1800ms should now become -1.8s)
  • Fixed an exception caused when invalid input was specified in the measurement inspector
  • The last-specified synchronous average value is now used when measuring quickly using an option-click, or choosing Measurement > Measure from the main menu
  • Undo and redo now correctly operate for markers, and dropping markers now correctly marks the document as dirty so they are saved when the document is closed
  • When aborting a measurement, the play button is once again restored
  • Harmonic distortion graph settings for min/max harmonics are now retained when printing or exporting an image
